Who is responsible for your data

What we collect and why

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which guides are read. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device and doesn't track you across sites; it reports aggregate numbers only. We don't use advertising trackers.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare hosts the site, processes technical request data to deliver and secure it, and provides cookie-free Web Analytics. Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when pages load. Google privacy policy.
- Our email provider stores newsletter subscribers' addresses and sends the emails.
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EU, UK or Switzerland, we rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Cookies
We don't set cookies for tracking or advertising. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from bots.
Affiliate links
Some links go to partners such as booking sites or retailers. If you click one, the partner may set its own cookies to record the referral, and its privacy policy applies from that point. We don't receive your payment details or your purchase history. See our affiliate disclosure.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share data only with the service providers listed above, or where the law requires it.
How long we keep data
- Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with your message, then deleted within 24 months.
- Technical request data: kept by Cloudflare according to its own retention policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and several US states such as California, you may have the right to:
- know what personal data we hold about you and get a copy
- correct inaccurate data
- have your data deleted
- object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't do either)
To make a request, email [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days, may need to confirm your identity first, and won't treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Curb To Coast is written for adults and isn't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their personal data; if you believe a child has sent us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how personal data is handled, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
